Abu Hashish Lagoon
The lagoon is enclosed by the Abu Hashish reef, so the water inside is almost always still and the boat can moor right in it. Divers explore the wide sandy bottom and the reef wall that borders the lagoon, staying in shallow water throughout. Seagrass patches make it a nursery for juvenile fish, and the sand is known for its many bluespotted stingrays. Gobies, crocodilefish and pipefish make it a good place for macro photography. Local centres use it for first open water training dives, refresher dives and buoyancy practice.
