El Bajito
El Bajito lies just off the south-western side of Los Islotes and rises to about 6 m below the surface before dropping to sand at around 27 m. The reef is split by long, narrow channels of rock and coral that are wide enough to swim through. Plant and animal growth covers the sides of these alleys, where many fish find shelter, and soft corals and sea fans are reported on the reef. Moray eels, octopus, scorpionfish and angelfish are typical sightings, which makes it a favourite for macro photography. It can be hard to locate without a local guide, and currents are sometimes an issue.
