Isla Ballena

Also known as: Whale Island

Isla Ballena is a sheltered, calm site that is often used for beginners or as the second dive of the day. Several caves and arches cut through the rock, and in one of them divers can surface inside the island in a pocket of air. On the sand shelf between the islands, a garden of conger eels sways out of the seabed. Rays, turtles, lobsters, octopus and schools of tropical fish are common, and dolphins are sometimes seen. Koox names two areas, La Cola and La Cabeza de la Ballena.
