USAT Liberty Wreck
Also known as: USS Liberty Wreck · Liberty Wreck
The Liberty was torpedoed in the Lombok Strait in 1942, beached at Tulamben and pushed into the sea when Mount Agung erupted in 1963. Today the roughly 120 m hull lies broken on its side, parallel to the shore, and its highest part is close enough to the surface for snorkellers. Hard and soft corals, gorgonians and sponges cover the wreck, and one dive centre counts more than 400 fish species here, among them a resident school of bigeye trevally. Bumphead parrotfish spend the night on the wreck, and AquaMarine rates night and early morning dives as the best time here, with fewer divers around. The broken hull offers swim-throughs and open cargo areas without the need for real penetration.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
