Tulamben Drop Off
Also known as: Drop Off · Tulamben Wall · The Wall
Divers begin over steep sand where ghost pipefish hide among crinoids before the bottom changes into reef ridges and a vertical wall. Barrel sponges, black coral bushes and gorgonian fans cover the wall, and one fan at around 27 to 30 m is described as several metres across. Small groups of bumphead parrotfish are seen, the bigeye trevally from the wreck sometimes school here, and whitetip reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse and large morays are seen more often here than on the wreck. Dive centres also report occasional manta rays, mola mola and even whale sharks. The shallow reef top at around 5 m is rich in small life, so divers can finish with a long safety stop and snorkellers can join.
