Lipah Bay

Also known as: Lipah

Lipah Bay is in southern Amed and can be dived from the beach or after a short jukung ride. Young whitetip reef sharks often shelter beneath the big table corals in the shallows, so local dive centres know the bay as a shark nursery. Ocean Gardener and dive centres of the area have planted hundreds of coral fragments here in a reef restoration project. Hard corals, sea fans and reef fish fill the reef down to about 18 m, and a sponge garden starts at around 25 m. Eagle rays, leopard morays, turtles and clown triggerfish appear in the deeper parts.
