Malayan Wreck

Also known as: Malayan

The Malayan was stranded on the reef top at the south-western side of the North Atoll, and today only broken steel ribs and plates remain in the shallows. Because this is the closest point when arriving from Puerto Princesa, many liveaboards start their trip here. The dive usually begins along the wall, where grey reef and whitetip sharks are common and sea fans may hold pygmy seahorses. A large school of harlequin sweetlips often gathers near the wreck in the shallows. The wreckage itself attracts macro subjects such as nudibranchs, crabs and shrimps and makes a good night dive with Spanish dancers, squid and lobsters.
