West of Eden

Also known as: West of Six

The southern part is a sloping hard coral garden in shallow water, full of reef fish. Further north the reef turns into massive granite boulders that form canyons, with walls covered in soft corals and large gorgonian sea fans below about 20 metres. Ribbon eels, frogfish, ghost pipefish and seamoths are found among the rocks. Turtles, octopus and batfish are regular residents, and when the current runs, trevally, fusiliers and whitetip reef sharks become more active.
