Kormoran

Also known as: Zingara

The Kormoran, built in 1963 in Rostock according to Reef Oasis, was carrying phosphate from Aqaba when a navigation error drove her onto Laguna Reef on the north side of Tiran Island in 1984. The wreck lies parallel to the reef wall and is badly broken, but a winch, the engine and the propeller can still be seen. Table corals and other hard corals have grown over the wreckage, and large schools of surgeonfish and goatfish gather around it. Because the site is exposed and shallow, centres visit it only on very calm days.
