Gordon Reef
Gordon Reef is the first reef boats reach on the way to Tiran, and the Panamanian freighter Loullia ran aground on its northern end in 1981; weather has since broken up most of the wreck. On the south side a wide plateau at about 10 to 25 m allows a mooring dive, with a gully known as the Amphitheatre or Shark Pool where sharks, barracuda and tuna are often seen. Halfway along the eastern side a field of old metal drums has become an artificial reef for octopus and several kinds of moray. Further north there is a sandy patch with garden eels. Currents can be strong at the northern and southern ends.
