Jackson Reef

Jackson Reef is the most northerly reef in the Straits of Tiran and the remains of the Cypriot freighter Lara lie deep on its northern side, beyond recreational depth. Dives usually start on the sheltered south side, where a wall cut by sandy splits drops to around 45 m and a bright red anemone sits at about 27 m. The western corner holds a shallow coral garden that Camel Dive Club compares to an aquarium. On the east and north sides strong currents bring turtles, whitetip and grey reef sharks, and between July and October schools of scalloped hammerheads in the blue. The currents at the corners can be very strong.
