Wainilu
Also known as: Wae Nilu · Wai Ni Loo
At first sight Wainilu looks like an empty slope of silt, sand, rubble and urchins, which is why it is compared to Lembeh. The calm water and lack of current let guides search slowly for rare critters such as mandarin fish, dragonets, frogfish, ornate ghost pipefish, ribbon eels, Coleman shrimp and zebra crabs. Nudibranchs appear in great variety, and octopus, flamboyant cuttlefish and rhinopias have been reported. Turtles feed on soft corals in the shallows, and the site is also a favourite night dive. Good buoyancy matters, since the silt stirs up easily.
