El Fanous East
Also known as: Torfa el Fanous · Dolphin Reef · Dolphin's Playground · Dolphin Playground · Dorfa El Fanous East
A narrow band of reef encloses a large lagoon that stays calm in any weather, and a channel on the east side separates the reef from the mainland. Outside, divers swim to a first erg, across a coral garden to a second erg full of glassfish, and on to gorgonians at the corner of the reef. The current splits on the outer north side, so a drift from the beacon back through the channel is possible. A pod of five or six dolphins is not unusual even during a dive, and turtles, bluespotted rays and eagle rays are regular. Sand-dwelling rarities such as sea moths, frogfish and stargazers make the site interesting for close observers.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
