Delta Shoal
Also known as: Delta Shoals
Delta Shoal is a spur-and-groove formation whose ledges, crevices and sandy canyons are full of fish and invertebrates. Over the centuries many ships struck the shoal, and divers can find a shallow barge wreck and the scattered remains of the Ivory Wreck, a slave ship lost in 1853. NOAA's Shipwreck Trail site North America lies in the sand and grass flats north of the shoal. Mooring buoys are set along the spurs, and the shallow depth makes it good for photography.
