Motu Iti
Also known as: Moto Iti
Motu Iti lies close to Motu Nui, about a mile from Rano Kau volcano, and is today a bird sanctuary within Rapa Nui National Park. Around the islets, walls covered in coral rise from deep blue water, and the distance from the main island keeps visibility high for most of the year. Daytours4u describes caves, lava arches and volcanic passages around the motus, with Easter Island butterflyfish, long-spined sea urchins and hard corals. Polynesia Paradise names the pass between Motu Nui and Motu Iti as the island's top dive, with steep cliffs plunging into the ocean. Good buoyancy control is needed because of the currents.
