Wilson Rock
Also known as: Wilson's Rock
Wilson Rock rises above the surface and drops in a series of plateaus, ledges, valleys and crevices surrounded by smaller submerged peaks. Almost every surface is covered with life: white metridium anemones, corynactis, rose anemones, sponges, sea stars and dozens of nudibranchs, with patches of California hydrocoral. Lingcod, vermilion rockfish, wolf eels and octopus live here, sea lions visit, and large rock scallops grow on the deeper rock. Currents are always present and often strong, and surge makes the shallows hazardous.
