Her captain mistook the North Rock light for St. David's Lighthouse, and all aboard escaped in the lifeboats. The engine was salvaged during the Second World War, but the twin boilers and the 18 inch propeller shaft remain on top of the hull plates. The stern overhangs a sand hole. Visibility at the site is usually 80 to 100 ft, and it lies about half a mile from the Caraquet.
