Coron Bay in the Calamian Islands of northern Palawan is one of the world's premier wreck diving destinations, holding Japanese World War II shipwrecks sunk in 1944.
Coron Bay lies in the Sulu Sea between Coron Island and Busuanga Island, in the Calamian Islands group of northern Palawan. Most of the bay falls within the Coron Island Protected Area, a traditional fishing ground of the indigenous Tagbanwa people. The bay is internationally known for diving on ten Japanese shipwrecks sunk on 24 September 1944 by aircraft of US Task Force 38, including the Akitsushima, Okikawa Maru and Irako. Wreck depths vary widely across the site, from the partly surface-breaching Lusong Gunboat suitable for snorkelers to deeper wrecks.
