Valley of the Rays

Also known as: Valley of the Rays – Manta Dive

Coral outcrops on the sandy channel floor serve as cleaning stations, where mantas hover while wrasse pick off parasites. The largest station is the Merry-Go-Round, a big lettuce-coral formation in the middle of the valley; the Carwash on the north side and Manta Rock, a pinnacle rising to about 10 m, are the other two. Mantas come in the morning after feeding offshore at night and sometimes circle like planes waiting to land. Whitetip sharks, large pufferfish and octopus live on the channel floor. It is the main manta site in summer and autumn.
