Divers enter from the small car park in front of the first road tunnel between Urfeld and Walchensee, using the stairs by the water towers, or from a second entry behind the tunnel that needs a steep climb down. The wall drops almost vertically along the whole car park and continues far beyond recreational depths towards the Kirchelgrund, the deepest basin of the lake. Darkness can set in from about 20 m along the face, so divers have to keep a close eye on their depth gauge. A grounding steel strip on the bottom leads down to an old Ford that lies at around 38 m, a few metres shallower when the lake is drawn down in winter. Burbot hide in the many crevices of the wall, and a local dive school rates the site for very experienced divers only.
