Desselwand

Also known as: Unterwasserberg · Unterwasserberg (Desselwand)

Divers can rent a pedal boat in Urfeld, anchor over the ridge and descend on a line, although it can also be reached by swimming from the Desseleck headland or diving across from the Pioniertafel. The crest of the underwater mountain lies at around 10 to 20 m, and from its edge a wall falls almost vertically towards the lake bottom far below. At just under 20 m a fallen boulder resting on a ledge forms a passage that divers can swim under, called the Hinkelstein passage by one dive school. Visibility often improves with depth, and the open water below the wall gives a strong sense of exposure. A local dive school calls it the most beautiful wall it knows.
