Gobernador Bories

Also known as: Goby

The Gobernador Bories worked in South American waters before the Admiralty bought her and sank her in Burra Sound as a blockship. She drifted into deeper water before going down, so she never served well as a blockship. The hull is still ship-shaped, with the propeller and rudder in place at the stern and the boiler, engine and pistons visible among the ribs midships. The constant current keeps silt out of the wreck and feeds soft corals, anemones and kelp on the upper ribs. Friendly wrasse are known to follow divers around.
