Tabarka

The Tabarka was first sunk as a blockship in Kirk Sound in 1941, then raised in 1944 and sunk again in Burra Sound. She now lies inverted, and holes blasted in her sides allow easy access and let shafts of light into the interior. Inside, divers find the boulders loaded to sink her, large boilers and the triple-expansion steam engine. The tide can run at four to five knots, so the wreck is dived only during the short slack water. Wrasse, small fish and a carpet of anemones cover the structure.
