Aorangi

Also known as: SS Aorangi

The Aorangi was scuttled in Kirk Sound in August 1915 and was one of the few blockships actually raised after the war, when she was moved to a position east of the sound. Her engine and propeller shaft are missing, which suggests some salvage after the move. She now lies on a sandy, stony seabed with her four boilers standing about four metres proud as the highest point, and the bow section is still partly intact. The site can only be reached by boat and is described as an interesting dive.
