Grotta del Pozzo
Also known as: Well Cave · Cave of the Well
Divers enter through a wide opening at about 14 to 15 m and follow a tunnel into a hall that widens and rises. At the end, light falls in from the upper opening, and divers ascend the vertical shaft. Exhaled air seeps through the porous rock and rises as thousands of tiny bubbles, an effect the dive centres compare to champagne or an aquarium. Encrusting life is modest because little light enters, but brown meagre, slipper lobsters and European lobsters are seen. Outside, the cliff carries yellow gorgonians and soft corals above Posidonia meadows.
