Les Davis Pier

Also known as: Les Davis · Les Davis Reef

Les Davis Pier is a popular park and fishing pier on Commencement Bay, with a dedicated parking lot, restrooms and concrete steps into the water. WDFW sank large concrete slabs and pillars from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge here as fish habitat, and the reef now hosts large numbers of rockfish, perch, gunnels and grunt sculpins. Giant Pacific octopus and wolf eels are often found deep in the concrete crevices. Because the site lies near the mouth of the Puyallup River, a freshwater layer and silt can reduce visibility. Divers should avoid the active fishing pier and the old tire reef on the right side of the site.
