Secca dell'Isuela
Also known as: Isuela Shoal · Isuela
The Isuela is a submerged mountain swept by currents that bring in nutrients, which is why its walls are so crowded with life. The southern faces are covered in red gorgonian fans with clouds of anthias, and deeper down red coral colonies mix in or take over. Catshark eggs are often found attached to the gorgonians, and the crevices hold moray eels, conger eels, lobsters and forkbeards. Out in the blue, amberjack, dentex, barracuda and tuna regularly pass by, while dusky groupers patrol the cap. The park warns about strong currents on the top and advises choosing the south-west or south-east side according to the flow.
