Grotta dell'Eremita
También conocido como: Hermit's Cave · Ermit's Cave
The site is named after a natural cave in the cliff just above the sea, linked by legend to a hermit. Below the mooring a detrital bottom at about 18 m is scattered with rocks and big boulders. Two large blocks form a vault whose ceiling is almost entirely covered with yellow cup corals and encrusting sponges, often with small nudibranchs. Further east patches of Posidonia hold fan mussels, and red coral grows in the deeper, sheltered spots. Dusky groupers, moray and conger eels, octopus and small-spotted catsharks are regular sightings, and dentex hunt damselfish over the rockfall.
