Punta della Torretta
Also known as: Torretta Peak · Punta Torretta
The tower on the point was built to watch for pirate ships, and the dive takes its name from it. Underwater a vertical wall drops about 20 m to a rocky terrace and then continues down to almost 40 m. The deeper walls carry a forest of red gorgonians crowded with small epibionts, with red coral, lobsters, sponges and nudibranchs in between. The point is exposed to currents, which bring amberjack, small tuna, snapper and schools of barracuda. Technical divers can visit large boulders between about 45 and 65 m, but must turn back before the boundary of the strict reserve.
