Gürmenli Island Cappadocia
Also known as: Gürmenli Kapadokya · Kapadokya
The smaller of the two Gürmenli islands sits at the far western end of the Çukurbağ peninsula, and its southwest side is where most of the action happens. The island's edge drops quickly, the slope is riddled with cracks full of squirrelfish, and it then deepens gradually before meeting the sand abruptly on the west side, where stingrays are a near certainty. Rising towards the island's south shore, divers reach a landscape of odd, bare rock formations that dive centres compare with Cappadocia's famous valleys. Gürmenli is usually swept by current and works well as a stop on a day trip.
