C-47 Dakota Wreck

Also known as: Dakota C-47 Plane Wreck · C47 Dacota Plane

The Dakota became the emblem of diving in Kaş after the scrapped aircraft was sunk on the sand at about 22 metres to form an artificial reef. It sits in the lighthouse area at Limanağzı, a short ride from the harbour. The cockpit and wings are favourite photo subjects, and the spacious cargo bay can be entered with a guide. Lionfish have settled on the plane, and green turtles and shrimp gobies are common in the surrounding area. Some local guides note that there is little reef around the plane itself.
