Cray's Crack
A rocky reef with Ecklonia kelp and black coral runs down at about 45 degrees to roughly 18 m, where it meets sand. Beyond a shelf at about 20 m the site becomes a steep wall that falls away to around 80 m in places. Crayfish are everywhere, together with jock stewarts, wrasses, butterfly perch and schooling tarakihi. Dogfish and carpet sharks are often seen.
