The Triangle

Being deep inside the fiord, the site has a thick freshwater layer on top and darker water than the outer sites, with less current to clear the sediment. That gloom suits deep-water animals, and sevengill sharks and dogfish are seen here. The highlight is a huge black coral tree on the drop-off at about 18 m, described by one former guide as some 5 m wide, with carpet shark egg cases attached. Spiny seadragons, nudibranchs and many tube anemones are other finds. Visibility is often lower than elsewhere, so it is less suited to photography.
