Swanee Reef

Also known as: Swanne Reef · Swannee Reef · Swannee Rock

Swanee Reef rises from the San Lorenzo Channel to within about two metres of the surface and is now marked by a channel marker. Coral heads and walls with gorgonians attract big schools of green jacks and other baitfish, and California sea lions come by to hunt or rest. Divers report nudibranchs, octopus, frogfish and turtles, making it a favourite of underwater photographers. Its shallow top also makes it a good snorkelling spot. Tidal currents can run across the reef at certain times.
