The Airplane

An auxiliary jet engine exploded after take-off, six of the seven crew bailed out, and the commander was found still in his seat when divers reached the wreck. The wreckage is spread over a wide area, with the engines and bent propellers, wing parts and aluminium panels of the fuselage. Little coral grows on the aluminium itself, yet the plane sits inside a rich reef. Sergeant majors farm algae along the fuselage. The site is close to the wrecks of the Caeser and the North Carolina.
