North Carolina
After repairs in St. George's for a damaged rudder, the ship went aground two days into her onward voyage, and a later refloating attempt ended when an anchor broke through her hull. The midsection has collapsed, but the bowsprit still rises toward the surface. Deadeyes still line her rails, and the curve of her stern completes the picture of an old square-rigger on the seabed. Hogfish and snapper are common, and silt is easily stirred up, so calm days are best for this dive.
