Baung Penyu

Also known as: Turtle Neck · Blue Lagoon Wall

Baung Penyu, Balinese for "turtle neck", lies next to Blue Lagoon at Padang Bai and is dived from a jukung. Dives usually start on the sandy northern side with soft corals, anemones and cleaning stations, where seahorses, shrimps and nudibranchs hide. The slope then steepens into a wall covered in feather stars of many colours, sponges and hard corals. Frogfish, leaf scorpionfish and moray eels shelter in the cracks, and Bali Aqua reports catsharks in deeper crevices at about 20 to 27 m. With a light current the dive can end with a drift back into Blue Lagoon bay.
