Savu House Reef

Also known as: SAVU South Alor House Reef

Divers visit this house reef by boat to reach its deeper sections, where the slope keeps dropping. At around 30 m a large cave is often guarded by a big marbled stingray the guides call the Gatekeeper. Macro life includes Pontohi pygmy seahorses, among them the Alor colour form, plus leaf scorpionfish, cuttlefish and commensal shrimps. In the blue, giant trevally hunt through dense fusilier schools, and mobula rays and mola mola have been recorded. Alor Underwater Explorers rates it advanced with strong current.
