United Arab Emirates
The Gulf of Oman coast of the UAE between Dibba, Al Aqah, Khor Fakkan and Fujairah, with the country's healthiest coral reefs, rocky pinnacles and purpose-sunk wrecks reached by short boat rides.
The UAE East Coast faces the Gulf of Oman and stretches from Dibba in the north past Al Aqah and Khor Fakkan to Fujairah. Its water is cooler, deeper and more oxygenated than the Persian Gulf, so it holds the most varied coral reefs in the country. Dive centres in Dibba, Al Aqah and Khor Fakkan run small boats to sites only minutes away. Well known sites include Dibba Rock, a marine protected area visited by turtles, devil rays and occasional whale sharks, Snoopy Island off Al Aqah for shore diving and snorkelling, Martini Rock, Shark Island, Sharm Rocks and the deliberately sunk wrecks Inchcape 1 and Inchcape 2. The best season runs from October to May, while water stays between about 22 and 33 °C all year. Source: Wikipedia, The National, Scuba Diving, Shark Divers Club
