Banana Bommie
Banana Bommie is a well-liked site at the northern tip of Milne Bay and one of the reefs dived by boats heading north-east around East Cape. A large bommie covered in life reaches to within a few metres of the surface, and a gradual slope at the site ends on sand at about 27 m. Batfish and trevally hang in the current, fusiliers school around the reef, and the coral hides small critters and colourful nudibranchs. Garden eels live on the sandy bottom, and grey reef sharks are sometimes seen.
