Samarai Island Jetty
Également connu sous le nom de : Samarai Jetty · Samarai Wharf
Samarai was once the administrative capital of the province, and its large Government jetty on the north-west tip of the island has been decaying for decades. Underwater, the pylons, girders and more than a century of fallen debris form a cathedral-like structure covered in sponges and soft coral. Divers find scorpionfish, stonefish, crocodilefish, pipefish, ghost pipefish, flamboyant cuttlefish, seahorses and even coconut octopus, while glassfish, batfish and anthias swirl around the pylons. The jetty sections stretch for well over 100 m, so there is a lot to explore in shallow water. Currents can be strong at the ends of the jetty, and there are many sharp edges.
