Elbow Reef
También conocido como: The Elbow
Elbow Reef is sometimes called a wreck reef because so many ships struck it, and several of them are dived as separate sites: the City of Washington, the Hannah M. Bell (Mike's Wreck), the Tonawanda, a Civil War era wooden wreck and the Train Wheel Wreck. Between them, coral fingers and ledges with elkhorn coral shelter schools of snapper, porkfish, goatfish and angelfish. Hawksbill and loggerhead turtles are often seen in the middle depths. In the south the bottom slopes to Nelson's Ledge, where it drops more steeply towards sand. A sanctuary preservation area protects the reef.
