Werkhaven Bommenede Oost
Also known as: Bommenede Haven · Bommenede werkhaven oost
There is no dike to climb here: divers walk from a large grass field straight into the water and wade a long way over sand before it is deep enough to swim. The basin beside the eastern pier does not get deeper than about four metres, and its floor is a carpet of Japanese oysters cut by small sandy patches. It suits slow critter hunting for crabs, worms and, later in the season, gobies, butterfish and pipefish. Orange sponges appear towards the channel. Diving is not allowed in the harbour, its approach or over the drowned village of Bommenede, which lies in the fairway offshore.
