Polder Bommenede
Also known as: Bommenede Polder · Polder van Bommenede
The site lies on the ruins of the former village of Bommenede; what remains under water is little more than an overgrown heap of rubble. The small dams are covered with oysters and mussels, and some oysters carry anemones that need a hard base. Between and below them the bottom turns to silt with mud anemones, flatfish, pipefish and many kinds of shrimp. Since a building closed the end of the harbour, shore divers face a long walk, so boats are the practical way in. The fairway and busy summer boat traffic close by make ascents risky.
