Leven Bank
Leven Bank is a mid-channel seamount whose coral-covered top lies around 14 m while its sides fall away to depths far beyond diving range. The open-ocean setting brings schools of tuna, barracuda, kingfish, rainbow runners and trevally, and sharks, manta rays and whale sharks have been reported. On the bank itself, huge honeycomb morays and colourful nudibranchs live among hard and soft corals and spiralling whip corals shaped by the current. Dive centres only go on suitable tides because the currents can be strong. Humpback whales are sometimes seen from the boat between July and November.
