Big Wall

Also known as: Giant Wall

Big Wall runs along the outer side of the Mnemba reef, where the slope steepens into a long vertical drop with overhangs and small caves full of sponges, soft corals and lobsters. Divers usually descend into the blue and drift along the wall before finishing on the shallower reef around 14 m. Schools of barracuda, rainbow runners, bigeye trevally and dolphinfish pass along the edge, and whitetip or blacktip reef sharks and Napoleon wrasse are reported. Large barrel sponges and long whip corals cover the deeper sections. Dive centres reserve it for advanced divers because of depth and current.
