Apolima Gardens

Also known as: Apolima Drift

The site lies only about 70 metres off the steep cliffs of Apolima Island, the small volcanic island between Upolu and Savai'i, around half an hour by boat from Pure Ocean. Divers drift slowly along a coral garden that starts at about 8 metres, with large table corals sheltering lobsters. Rainbow runners, unicornfish, Napoleon wrasse, bluefin trevally, turtles and reef sharks are regular sights along the reef. The reef continues deeper, but most of the interest lies in the shallower band, which makes the site suitable for a wide range of divers. Many different routes along the reef mean that repeat dives can feel new.
