Opperer House

The site carries the name of Thomas Opperer, a former Samoa resident and keen diver who was the first to dive it. A ledge at around 7 metres marks the top of a soft coral garden that slopes away towards 40 metres, and Pure Ocean compares the setting to an opera stage. Reef fish and macro life are the main attraction, and pelagics pass by from time to time. During the humpback whale migration, which the sources place between late August and October, divers may hear distant whale song. The trip from Pure Ocean takes about 30 minutes.
