Snoopy Island
Snoopy Island lies just off the beach of the Sandy Beach Hotel at Al Aqah, and its rock profile resembles the cartoon dog Snoopy lying on his kennel. The resident dive academy runs guided shore dives to it from the beach twice a day. Hard corals surround the island in shallow water, and dive centres rate it as suitable for try dives and newly certified divers as well as snorkellers. Green and hawksbill turtles are frequent, together with parrotfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, clownfish, moray eels, cuttlefish and rays. Reef sharks are seen now and then.
