Secca del Frate
Also known as: Friar's Pinnacle · Secca del Frate in Palmaiola
The shoal has two tops some 30 m apart, and boats anchor on the southern one. A vertical wall runs to about 18 m before sloping to sand at 25 to 30 m. Yellow gorgonians, fan worms and nudibranchs cover the rock, and thanks to the current the boulders are coated in orange sea daisies. Congers, morays, groupers and scorpionfish live in the cracks. Big pelagics such as eagle rays, tuna and large amberjacks are common, which is why it suits experienced divers even though it is not deep.
